Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion

The Church established the Ministry of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) several decades ago. Ministers assist the Priests and Deacons in the Distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to the congregation. Ministers also assist with the distribution
of ashes on Ash Wednesday.

Qualifications
The following are the desirable qualifications of an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion:
· Baptized and Confirmed Catholic men and women who practice their faith on a regular and consistent basis
· 25 years of age or order (Dispensations may be granted on a case-by-case basis)
· Registered member of the parish, or written authorization from your Pastor if not a member of this parish
· If married, the marriage should have been performed in the Church or subsequently blessed in the Church. Divorce does not
make one ineligible for this ministry
Requirements
· Candidates must complete a training class of approximately 1 1/2 hours prior to commissioning. Recommissioning occurs every
two years.
